Scanpan is a brand of premium cookware manufactured by a Danish company of the same name. The company was inspired by a novel concept of recycling which, at the time of its inception, was unique and forward thinking.
HISTORY: Scanpan Denmark AS was founded in 1956, and has since grown to become the largest producer of pressure-cast aluminum cookware in Europe. Even today, the brand is firmly rooted to its founding philosophy, and the company still makes all its cast aluminum products using recycled aluminum.
SIGNIFICANCE: A significant aspect of the Scanpan brand is that its cookware is completely free of harmful substances typically found in cookware surfaces, such as the much-maligned PFOA (perfluoroctanoic acid). The company works closely with its suppliers to ensure that its products are made from materials that are biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
